Here indigenous tribes like the Ojibwe, Cree, and Iroquois crafted these slippers for centuries. These footwear did not just keep their feet warm. Rather, they were smart sought-after solutions for dealing with the tough climates. Made from deerskin or buffalo hide with the soft, fleece-like inner layer (shearling) intact, these moccasins provided excellent insulation against the biting cold winters.
